Oatmeal – are the health benefits real or a myth?

I’ve always heard that oatmeal is so great for cholesterol and other heart related items. Google seems to somewhat support this. Has anyone eaten oatmeal for a while and actually noticed differences in their LDL or HDL?

Also is the instant packet oatmeal that you add water and microwave as good as the traditional stuff you boil?

Thanks in advance.
Helps you not be a fat fuck which in turn lowers your shitty ldl and heart problems.

Most cholesterol problems are hereditary.

Microwave or OG makes no difference.

Fatty.
the instant packet stuff comes with added sugar a lot

maybe if you get the flavored stuff

the regular kind has none.

yup but the big jugs of quick oats are cheaper than those little packets that require me to eat 4 at a time. fuck that.

nice. HEY IM 100LBS OVERWEIGHT SHOULD I BE EATING OATMEAL?!
big jug of micro oats is a winner for breakfast
I go the Protein way, I have a delicious strawberry protein I add to it, tastes awesome.

has some high carbs, but in the end it is pretty solid stuff.

true
i think most of the health benefits come from the fact you arent eating other shit like bacon and ham for breakfast

yeah im a fatty but my bad has always been well below 200. however my good cholesterol is low. trying to lose weight, exercise, and hey if this shit helps too then so be it

nothing fucking wrong w/ bacon and ham.

I think it does at least somewhat help. I had a bowl of oatmeal (traditional, although I always just microwaved it) almost every morning for ~6 months, and my overall cholesterol went from 184 down to 148 (HDL somewhere in the high 70’s to 80’s). …But obviously, oatmeal alone isn’t going to do everything. Exercising regularly and eating healthy will do much more. Good luck!
Yes oatmeal does help you lower your cholesterol. I am a sports nutritionist and have the explanation for you:

When you eat food, your body releases bile into the GI system to break down food. The bile is then reabsorbed later. However, when you eat oatmeal, the fiber in it absorbs the bile so it can’t be reabsorbed by the body and therefore the body has to make more bile. Guess what the body uses to make more bile? Cholesterol! Therefore, oatmeal lowers cholesterol.
