If someone asked you to critique their form at your gym….

Would you take the time to help them? Or would it mess up your routine.
Of course I’d help them. We’ve all been the guy who has no idea what he’s doing.
reason i ask is I had a guy tell me, thats what personal trainers are for. I asked politely while he was taking a break. Seems like this new gym i go to is full of assholes. The first day i was there i was doing seated shoulder press and some guy walks right in front of me and does some discus throw type move with a plate in front of the mirror. The whole gym was empty but he had to stand right in front of me. Theres been other incidents but i wont get into it.

1 month review of Controlled Labs White Flood Watermelon – Start 6/6/11

I broke my arm a few months ago and gave up exercise during and for a few months afterwards. I looked in the mirror and was quite disgusted by how bad I let myself go so its time to man the fuck up and get my pump on.

Supplements:
Controlled Labs White Flood
Protein
Multivitamin

Start @ 6’0" 149# (ya… I know )
I don’t like to max out so I’ll be posting the weights of my finals set. My goal is to increase strength as much as possible, put on a few lbs to balance out my physique, and increase my vertical as much as possible to be able to slam dunk a ball. I currently can reach 1-2 inches above the rim and hang on the rim, hoping to increase my vertical one more inch in this first month of noob gains.

Art of Manliness: Olympic Weightlifter Casey Burgener interview (tldr)

Once again we return to our So You Want My Job series, in which we interview men who are employed in desirable jobs and ask them about the reality of their work and for advice on how men can live their dream.

Daah daah duh don don don da. That was the Olympic “fanfare and theme.” So hard to convey in writing. Every four years the world’s top athletes gather to compete against the very best of the best. They compete for country, for glory, and for the love of their sport. For these athletes, the Olympics are the culmination of years of all-consuming training, of copious amounts of blood, sweat, and tears spent in the pursuit of one goal: the sound of their national anthem playing as the gold medal is placed around their necks.

Best chest workout with a bad shoulder?

What would be the best way for me to minimize my shoulder pain when doing chest workouts? My left shoulder has a bunch of issues but has never fully been dislocated, it just gets extremely sore when I do benches or dips. I can max bench 110 due to my shoulder. I know i have the strength in my chest to do more but my shoulder completely fails. Any thoughts?
I would read the shoulder thread that is stickied at the top of the forum
i dislocated my shoulder more than once and it never healed right .. some scar tissue built up as well

Squat bar placement

It’s really starting to piss me off. No weight, or minimal weight and I can squat ass to toes.

Add any amount of normal weight and I turn into Igor.

I’m thinking maybe I place the bar to high on my bar.

Where’s the optimum placement?
I’m curious about this too. I don’t feel like I have as good control of the bar if I keep it low.
There isnt optimal placement, its just what works for you. I prefer a keeping the bar high on my back, some like it lower.

Chest Training by Dorian Yates

Dorian Yates

Q | I’ve been training for four years straight. I weigh 190 pounds and can bench 315 pounds, which people tell me is pretty good. But my chest isn’t growing the way I think it should. How can I spark some life into my pecs?

A | More than anything, you may need to make a mental adjustment before you can get your chest to start growing. Right off the bat, you wrote how much you can bench press. That’s fine if you’re looking to be a powerlifter, but for bodybuilding purposes, the weight you can bench is pretty much irrelevant.

Any of you bros coach?

I’m thinking I need to start contributing more to the world. Football used to be my life and I really miss it when it comes down to it. Thinking about getting into coach at my old high school. Anyone?
I’ve considered it too. I stopped playing like 5 years ago and have had coaches ask if I want to come back and coach and some have even called me, but when it comes down to it, it’s a lot of time to take out of your week. But if you have the time and love for the game, why not?
Yeah thats the one thing that holding me back 100%. I’m pretty spontaneous and coaching is def something that requires a ton of time and dedication.
